Một nhân viên đặc vụ là Ethan Hunt(Tom Cruise) đã được giao nhiệm vụ là tìm và phá hủy một loạt chất gây rối loạn thần kinh được gọi là “Chimera”. Nhiêm vụ của hunt là bất khả thi, anh ta phải chiến đấu chống lại một bang nhóm tội phạm quốc tế.Tổ chức này đã ăn cắp thuốc giải “Bellerophon” và bây giờ chúng cần “Chimera” để thưch hiện kế hoạch phát tán chất động trên toàn thế giới.
